Congrats, graduating seniors!

The Steinhardt Lab congratulates our Class of 2023 undergraduate students! Katarina Rees achieved the biology department’s Undergraduate Research Achievement award this year, and plans to go into a career in the medical field in the future. Michelle Shanguhyia has accepted a place in the Upstate Medical University Pre-Up program, where she will work for one year before continuing her graduate studies. Farewell and good luck to you both!

Meet our newest grad student!

Pantea Montazeri earned her B.Sc. in Applied Chemistry at K.N. Toosi University of Technology in Tehran, Iran, followed by an M.S. in Organic Chemistry at Sharif University of Technology. She joined the PhD Program at Syracuse University in August 2022, and will focus on organic synthesis during her time in the Steinhardt Lab.

Steinhardt Lab undergrads present their research

Steinhardt Lab undergrads Michelle Shanguhyia ’23 and Dylan Gray ’22 presented posters this afternoon at the SU College of Arts and Sciences Undergraduate Research Festival. Their research is related to our upcoming publication on photoaffinity labeling of dopamine receptor D2. Great work, Michelle and Dylan!

Congratulations graduating seniors!

This Spring, six of our senior undergrads will be graduating from SU or ESF! Notably, Ray Flax will be headed to UNC Chapel Hill for a PhD in Pharmaceutical Chemistry, Victoria Zirimu has accepted a full scholarship to NYU for her M.S. in Chemistry, and Morgan Storino will pursue an MD at Temple University. Congrats to all!

Meet our newest grad student!

Sara Talebi graduated with her B.Sc. in Textile Engineering from Amirkabir University of Technology in Tehran, Iran, and worked in the textile industry there before joining the doctoral program at SU in August 2021

Recruiting New Graduate Students!

We are looking for motivated new SU graduate students to join our lab! Our research encompasses a broad range of topics including organic synthesis and methods development, molecular biology, medicinal chemistry, cell culture, polymer chemistry, and soft robotics. If you are interested in any (or all!) of these areas of chemistry, we invite you to talk to Dr. Steinhardt (rcsteinh@syr.edu) and our graduate students about working with us. We are a relatively young group, meaning that those who join us will get to build the lab from the ground up and help us build a fun, inclusive, and inspiring lab culture!

Undergraduates who are interested in joining our lab should contact Dr. Steinhardt. We will be accepting new undergraduates in the future in accordance with University policy regarding social distancing during Covid-19.
